Meet the Team

The Assistive Technology Engineering Club is organized into different teams, each focusing on their own areas of expertise which brings our mission together.

Take a look at how each team helps contribute to assistive technology development!

Technical Engineering Team

The Engineering Design team are the members who will be creating the assistive technology for our end-users. ATEC heavily focuses on a user-centered design approach, where designers work closely with the people who requested the assistive technology to ensure that it meets their wants and needs. Currently, all of our projects are 3D-printing focused. Experience with/or interest in 3D-printing design, prototyping, and testing will be expected as a designer.

Research and Outreach

The commercial assistive technology market is often limited by high costs and generic, mass-produced designs. ATEC addresses this challenge by delivering custom 3D-printed devices tailored to individual needs, a domain that remains largely unfamiliar to many engineering designers who possess the skills to create these solutions.

The Research and Outreach team bridges this knowledge gap both within ATEC and across the broader community. By conducting field research, delivering educational presentations, and leading hands-on device-building workshops, the team advocates for more accessible assistive devices and ensures our engineering designers maintain a holistic, human-centered understanding of their work.
